Crosby is great, but Gretzky still the man when it comes to a U.S. audience

via National Post:

Wayne Gretzky is still more appealing to American sports fans than Sidney Crosby, according to an annual survey geared towards marketers. So too, surprisingly, is Joe Sakic.

Marketing Evaluations has been providing clients with Q Scores for more than 40 years, measuring the “likability” of actors, athletes and other celebrities, among other things.

The sports version of the annual survey, administered by Marketing Evaluation/TvQ, is mailed to 2,000 people who identify themselves as fans of at least one sport. The respondents then evaluate a cross-section of athletes and sports personalities based on how recognizable and appealing they are.
