Luke Schenn scores shootout winner

In the five preseason games Luke Schenn has played he has made it very tough for the Leafs to send him back to the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. Schenn had another steller proformance against the Blue’s, this time providing the shootout winner.

via CBC:

Rookie Luke Schenn and Vesa Toskala vaulted the Toronto Maple Leafs over the visiting St. Louis Blues 4-3 in pre-season action on Monday night.

Schenn, Toronto’s top pick (fifth overall) in the June draft, scored the go-ahead goal in the shootout on a nifty backhand deke, and Toskala made it stand up by foiling T.J. Oshie to clinch the win.

“To be honest, I had never shot in a shootout before. It feels good to score,” Schenn said.

“He had the great moves in practice,” Maple Leafs head coach Ron Wilson said of Schenn. “I didn’t know he was going to be able to pull it off.”
