Spezza for Bouwmeester?

via Buffalo News:

Recent speculation also had center Jason Spezza inching toward the trading block. Could the master plan call for the Sens to unload Spezza, who signed a seven-year deal for $49 million last season, for a top defenseman and replace him with Sundin? Ottawa would like to get its hands on Panthers defenseman Jay Bouwmeester.

Bouwmeester is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after signing a one-year deal worth $4.875 million. He wants to play for a playoff team after spending so many years in the stink tank. The third pick overall in 2002 is playing in his sixth season but has never appeared in a postseason game.
