Avalanche sign Stastny to five-year extension

via Denver Post:

The Avalanche on Monday signed center Paul Stastny to a long-term contract extension.

It is a five-year, $33 million contract. Stastny will make $6.6 million for five straight years, starting in 2009-10.

“I’m still in a state of shock,” Stastny said. “Two years ago, I was in college and now I’m signing this kind of deal in the NHL. I’m so excited. It’s a great organization, and I didn’t want to go anywhere else.”
