THE LATEST ON SUNDIN
NATIONAL POST/TSN.CA/TORONTO SUN/TORONTO STAR: all weighed in on the possibility of Mats Sundin getting trade by the Maple Leafs at the trade deadline. The Star also asked several hockey experts what they believed the Leafs could get as a return in a Sundin trade, as did TSN’s Bob McKenzie, who noted Sundin is much healthier than Peter Forsberg was a year ago and playing better than Keith Tkachuk at this time last season.
Nothing like avoiding the rush to daydream over the riches Sundin could bring the struggling Leafs. Problem is, as long as the club remains in playoff contention, they won’t move him, and even if management did want to move him, the final say rests with Sundin, who doesn’t appear to be pining to play for a Cup contender as some pundits have suggested. Â
