Hossa’s status in Atlanta could be determined next week

Marian Hossa’s future with the Atlanta Thrashers could be decided next week according to the Calgary Sun.

Thrashers GM Don Waddell told reporters Friday that he’s going to sit down with Hossa and his Edmonton-based agent Ritch Winter early next week to see if he’ll sign a long-term extension.

Waddell said he’s not looking for Hossa to sign a 10-year deal, but it’s believed he has received a five-year, $35 million offer from Atlanta. If the club decides to deal Hossa, he will be a hot commodity with the likes of Detroit, Colorado, the Rangers, San Jose and Ottawa lining up to make an offer.
