North Dakota Hockey Coach Suspended

After an interesting turn of events in Saturday’s game between North Dakota Fighting Sioux and Minnesota Gophers the two teams lined up to shake hands and all hell broke lose.

After the teams were seperated the two coaches both spoke to the ref, where the coach of North Dakota Dave Hakstol seemed to lose his head and give the ref the finger. It was announced today that he was suspended by his school for team’s next two games, Feb. 15-16 against Denver.

In case you have yet to see the clip of the fight here it is:

via AOL Sports:

University of North Dakota co-acting athletic directors Betty Ralston and Steve Brekke made the move, suspending Hakstol for the team’s next two games, Feb. 15-16 against Denver.

“We hold all University of North Dakota coaches and student-athletes to the highest standards of sportsmanship, conduct and ethical behavior,” Ralston said in a statement. “We expect our coaches to keep themselves and their teams in control at all times. Profane language and poor behavior on the part of our coaches and student-athletes is unacceptable.”
