Rumors from around the league – Top trade deadline pickups
via Ottawa Sun:
A new name has surfaced on the NHL trade market with the clock ticking toward the deadline: Los Angeles C Mike Cammalleri. Two league sources told Sun Media that Kings GM Dean Lombardi wouldn’t give away Cammalleri, but is concerned about keeping him beyond next season when he makes $3.6 million … Speaking of the Kings, Lombardi gave D Rob Blake a list of 10 teams — including the Senators, Rangers, Bruins, Avalanche, Ducks, Sharks, Canucks and Wings — that have shown interest in obtaining the veteran. It’s believed Blake would rather stay in the West, which means the Avs, Ducks and Sharks might have the best shot at landing him … Keep an eye on Tampa Bay D Dan Boyle, who has begun contract talks with the Lightning. There’s a strong belief that Boyle is going to be a rental at the deadline. The Sharks, Rangers and Senators are considered the frontrunners. The talk is the Bolts can’t keep Boyle unless they’re able to move C Brad Richards and his $7.8 million salary this summer. Richards has a no-movement clause. GM Jay Feaster has always vehemently denied he’d trade Richards. We’ll see … While all the attention in Florida has been focused on C Olli Jokinen, sources say C Jozef Stumpel and W Radek Dvorak are being shopped … The Penguins have shown an interest in Leafs D Hal Gill.
