Zednik “I’m lucky to be here”
via Miami Herald:
On the ice, with blood pouring from his neck, Richard Zednik had just one thought: “Get to the bench.”
On the bench, his body weakening rapidly, Zednik’s mind drifted to his 4-year-old daughter Ella, wondering ”if I’m going to see her grow up,” he said.
Now, 11 days after having his carotid artery partially severed by a teammate’s skate, Zednik has one prevailing feeling:
”I’m lucky to be here,” Zednik said Thursday at BankAtlantic Center, addressing the media for the first time since he almost lost his life, sporting two scars on the right side of his neck.
