Briere out with shoulder sprain

via The Philadelphia Inquirer:

Flyers center Danny Briere missed his first game of the season last night because of a sprained right shoulder.

Briere was pushed from behind Sunday by the Rangers’ Fedor Tyutin in the first period of the Flyers’ 5-4 shoot-out loss in New York. Briere fell on his back and slid hard into the side boards, then grimaced in pain as he skated to the bench.

“Right now, we’re just going to call it day-to-day,” general manager Paul Holmgren said last night. “We’ll see how he is tomorrow. We had some improvement from yesterday to today. We were hoping it would be more, so he could play.”
